Natural Skincare Routine

Everyone needs a good natural skincare routine, it is of utmost importance that we maintain our skin as we shed skin cells throughout the day. As we age our skin starts to turn duller and less glowing. Having a natural skincare routine helps in replacing the dead cells with newer ones in a quicker process.

The first step of every natural skincare routine is:

1) Cleansing:

Using the right cleanser is very important to maintain the PH. Balance of the skin. Use your cleanser according to your skin type (Dry skin, Combination skin, Oily skin)

  • For dry skin

 

A milk-based cleanser is used to give the skin a smooth finish. Take 3 tablespoons of milk and add a pinch of turmeric to it. The milk restores the moisture in skin while the turmeric will restore the lost radiance. Keep this mixture for two minutes and then remove it using warm water.

 

  • For oily skin

 

Take 1 tablespoon of honey and squeeze a pinch of lemon to it since they both help in cutting back oil from the skin. Since its anti-bacterial it helps in keeping the skin healthy.

 

  • For combination skin

 

Take a slice of cucumber and puree it, then add the pureed mixture to 1 tablespoon of yogurt. Apply it all over the skin and wipe it with a washcloth. This mixture will not only moisturize your skin but hydrate your skin and control the amount of oils in it.

2) Toner:

Toning helps in restoring the lost nutrients of the skin. It is the step after cleansing.

  • Apple cider vinegar: Take equal parts of water and apple cider vinegar and store it in a bottle. ACV balances out the pH of the skin and it also clears out the clogged pores. ACV also helps with the acne marks or the blemishes to fade away.

 

  • Rose water: it keeps the skin hydrated. Boil some rose petals in water. Cool down the mixture and refrigerate. Use. Chilled rose water for better results.

 

  • Cucumber, Tomato and aloe Toner: Take 1.5 tablespoons of cucumber juice and tomato juice. Add 3 tablespoons of aloe gel to it. Mix the mixture well and store it in the refrigerator. Take a cotton ball and apply the toner twice daily for better results.

3) Masks that can be put after toning:

  • Papaya mask: It’s for radiation and for those who have hyperpigmentation problems or uneven skin tones. For this take half a cup of mashed papayas and add 2 table-spoons of honey to it. Mix this mixture and apply it all over to your face for 15-20 minutes. Wash it off with luke-warm water and then moisturize.

 

  • Honey Lemon Mask: This mask is the best fix for a dull skin and to a give it an instant glow. Add half a wedge of lemon to 1 tablespoons of honey. Add 1 spoon of milk and a pinch of turmeric to the same. Rub the mixture lightly all over your face and neck. Rinse with lukewarm water and don’t forget to moisturize.

4) Moisturizing:

  • It is a very important step for a healthy skin. It should be oil-free so that it does not clog your pores.
  • Anti-Oxidant Vitamins C and E help protect new skin and fight skin damage.
  • PABA-Free SPF 15 sunscreens help prevent premature lines and wrinkles.

Moisturizing reduces skin problems and while we apply it, it stimulates blood circulation and faster new cell generation. It reduces the chance of developing extreme dryness or oiliness. 

  • Aloe vera– take half a cup of aloe vera gel, add ¼ cup of coconut oil to it and add ¼ cup of almond oil. Mix this mixture in a boiler and store it in a container. This mixture soothes your skin and heals it.
  • Shea butter- Melt ½ cup of shea butter in a boiler and after it melts add almond oil to it. Whisk the mixture and do not let it solidify. Add 2 drops of essential oils (rosemary, tea tree and lavender). Keep this mixture in a container and massage the cream on your face and body. This mixture keeps your skin nourished.
